Thursday 14th January
Thursday is 5-a-side day. I was still aching from boxercise, so I wasn’t looking forward to this at all. Before the torture began though, I had to fix a PC.
I had to set up the wireless network first, easily done (those disc based installation thingys get better and better all the time) but the PC wouldn’t find the network at all. Turns out that the PC had been delivered with the wireless network card switched off, despite the PC saying ‘the wireless is on’ and the little light confirming this fact. I doubt the average man in the street would know how to switch on the wireless card in the device manager. Seems like a ridiculous thing for the manufacturers to do.
To footy then, and it was even more body wrecking than I thought. Boxercise is fine, the only impact is through the pads and a little through your knees form running. But all the turning, shooting, tackling ripped me to bits; my legs seized up in the night, which led to me breakdancing round the bedroom trying not to scream.
The best bit of 5-a-side was when Mikey broke through on goal, and I declared with certain conviction that he wouldn’t score, as it was ‘only Mikey’. Needless to say, he scored. I scored twice, including a deft finish with my left foot - this happens maybe once a year so it was nice to score the first of a new year with the old swinger.
